about

The QR-V/A series is an effort to bridge artists stranded by recent events in their own islands (or bunkers). QR-V/A#02 is the second release in a series of multimedia manifestations in a struggle to make abstraction survive among the harsh reality we are living. Please, enjoy some more!

LEANDRO KALÉN (1985, Buenos Aires) is a very gifted composer, singer, and multi - instrumentalist from Banfield, Argentina. His eclectic musical work represents a varied and colorful journey through a lot of influences: jazz, rock, funk, tango, Brazilian music, improvisation, avant-garde and folk music in general. But his music is not merely a fusion, his first album ‘Mecanica Celeste’ (2015) has a disctintive trademark regional sound, which is very much informed by the work of people like L.A Spinetta, Egberto Gismonti, Milton Nascimento and also by the strong Latin American folk tradition. Leandro’s latest release features beautifully arranged songs, well-crafted compositions and a superb cast of guest musicians which includes Argentina’s rock legend Litto Nebbia and world famous Brazilian Hermeto Pascoal. Besides his solo stuff, Leandro has worked and recorded with many musicians from all over the world, for example Fuerza Bruta, La Bomba de Tiempo, Raúl Carnota, Dave Newhouse (The Muffins), Bret Hart, Javier Barría, George Haslam, Manuel García, Oscar Giunta, among others.

CANDY AND THE SUCKERS is a side project by Katie Reese, co-founder of Thin Skin. This "zolo project" was formed many moons ago, but became more active within the Denton music scene in Texas. Just like the works of classic Ralph Records albums, Candy and The Suckers features toy-like synths and eerie child-like rhymes.
"Big Mulky" is part of her latest album Slop Pop, which can be heard on Bandcamp

R. STEVIE MOORE is an american singer and songwriter considered as the pioneer of lo-fi/DIY music, often called the "godfather of home recording", and one of the most recognized artists of the cassette underground. Since 1968, he has self-released approximately 400 albums, while about three dozen "official" albums (largely compilations) have been issued on various labels.
