about

The QR-V/A series is an effort to bridge artists stranded by recent events in their own islands (or bunkers). QR-V/A#01 is the first release in a series of multimedia manifestations in a struggle to make abstraction survive among the harsh reality we are living. For now we present this compilation of sound artists around the world.
Executive production by L. Borgia Rossetti and Elias Cheika Junior

AMY DENIO (Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame) is an award-winning composer, improviser, multi-instrumentalist and singer behind 500+ works and has produced 50 recordings.
She operates Spoot Music, her recording studio/label and publishing company, creating music for theater, film, television and modern dance.
Co-founder of Tone Dogs, The (EC) Nudes/Pale Nudes, The Entropics and her all-women sax quartet The Tiptons, also works with the folk metal band Kultur Shock and has been playing with Abel Rocha and Madeleine Sosin in Correo Aereo/Ama Trio since 2003.
In "All Together Now", Denio set out to create a song using her special coded alphabet: Starting with a title, she then assigns tones for each letter, and bases her music composition on that information. In this case she also assigned particular instruments to each letter in ALLTOGETHERNOW (accordion/lamp on/lamp off/theremin/oats/guitar/electric bass/Eb saxophone/trampoline/heater/
rack/nuts/orzo/wood chipper).

"Son Of Dota-Can" was recorded at home in Aoba, Yokohama, Japan, February 2020.

KLEISTWAHR is the solo project of Gary Mundy from Ramleh, Skullflower and also founder of the Broken Flag label. It originally existed in the 1980s as an electronic project and was revived in 2009 as an outlet for Gary’s solo electronic/noise/organ/guitar compositions. ESMECTATONS started as L. Borgia Rossetti's DIY avant-garde project in São Paulo, 1998. The group is known for their absurd, controversial and theatrical live performances.
The discography counts with more than 100 albums and soundtracks contrasting euphoric shapeshifting "zolo" sound with hopeless and depressive music, bending from everything as complex recording and jazz/prog songwriting to lo-fi free intuitive jams and harsh noise.
"Every Devastating Frame" is a cartoonesque nowave track recorded by L. Borgia Rossetti (guitar, sax, vocals, drums) and Bruno Leal (keyboard, synth, mastering at Zolo Caust studios).

JEAN-LOUIS COSTES is a French noise musician, performance artist and film actor. Costes has been described as the French version of GG Allin for his scatological and radical performances, and one of the first punk-DIY French artists, self-releasing dozens of tapes and CDs from the early 1980s to nowadays. His discography is surprisingly rich and outlandish, melding experimental, spoken word, electronics, sometimes hip-hop or metal, often parodying the French variety-song culture.
Costes appeared in controversial movies - including Irréversible (2002), wich he wrote a disappointment note about the same - and also published a variety of books, including collections of short stories, novels, comic-strips or photo-novels.
"Alone in My Basement" is his song about isolation in coronavirus time.

DJ TRISTEZZA (DJ Sadness) was born as a joke, to implement a fake radio broadcast in the 90s paired with another fake dj called Dj 'mpoittante (Important Dj), the sound radio series was called "Radio Cazzo" (Fuck Radio).

"‘IsoMusic Four-Two’ was performed "live" without any electronics on the Arches H-Line, an instrument I built last year as a tribute to Hans Reichel (the name is an anagram). Each set of strings has its own pickup and can be patched into any FX.”

LOVELY LITTLE GIRLS is an avant-rock band led by artist Gregory Jacobsen and bassist Alex Perkolup (Cheer Accident). Using Jacobsen's grotesque paintings as a basis, they write theatrical suites that morph from of-kilter dance anthems to punishing and ridiculous prog.
Influenced by artists such as Fred Frith, Magma, The Residents and Captain Beefheart, Lovely Little Girls moves between No-Wave, Rock-in-Opposition prog, metal and free jazz. Initial simple musical motifs quickly deform into charges of odd harmony and tangled polyrhythms; yet it is grounded in a love for catchy melodies. Jacobsen's syllable-stuffed cut-and-paste prose adds to the absurdity with lyrics about over-ripe food, incompetent sex and undignified death.
"Shadow of Bees" was performed by Alex Perkolup (songwriting, bass), Gregory Jacobsen (words, vocals), L Wyatt (vocals), Mike Hagadorn (trombone), Jeff Goulet (guitar), Cory Bengtsen (baritone sax), Heath Chappell (drums)
